Any ideas?

I have a confession to make.

You see, it's not like I started out with this in mind. I just turned around one day and there it was, staring me in the face.

I am a supremely boring mom.

We don't get out much (or you know, EVER). But I have a lot of (mostly) good excuses - Matt isn't home in the evening, I'm not home during the day, I'm pooped by the time I get home from work, housework needs to be done, the baby is too little young, blah, blah, blah.

But I see so many other moms doing this stuff and how fast my little ones are growing up and I think that those excuses won't mean SQUAT in 10 years when I finally make the time, but my kids no longer want to hang out with me.

So I'm turning over a new leaf. Starting with taking them to the movie in the park tonight - by myself, and WAY past bedtime (my rules are already flying out the window!).

But after that I need IDEAS. See, I'm not a very creative person, I don't know where all the cool hang outs are like splash parks and museums and farms and stuff.

So I'm begging...I know you guys all do amazing and fun things with your kids all the time. So fess up. Share your ideas for fun family outings - whether you're close-by or not.

I need all the help I can get!

Oh my sweet Jacy I totally understand what you are saying about being boring, this is the first time I have ever taken my kids fun places. One of the ladies in my ward had the idea to make jars with fun little things you can do anyday, like eat a popsicle, finger paint, anything special that your kids like and then another jar that has places you can go one day a week. I kinda liked that idea and decided that we would try to go someplace new each Tuesday since my Tuesdays always were awful. Lets see the splash parks are in Herriman, one is in Rosecrest, the one we went to yesterday is on 126th across from the Maverik, and I am pretty sure there is one further out on 126th that we havent been too. Some of my kids favorites places are Wheeler Farm, the Children's Musuem, the zoo, the Sweets Candy Factory up in SLC, and the candy store at Gardner Village. Call me if you need some more help, I would love to go adventuring with you!!

And I really like your new background. :)

This may sound really dumb, but when Christiana was about your kids ages, we would just go to the mall and let her and Hunter when he was old enough play on the toys. She loved it and would even ask to go to the mall to play. (Yes we have taught her young that the mall is fun.)

What about taking them to Kennecot? (nathan's idea) They might think it is fun to see the big trucks and you can drive right up.
You could also look up all the parks in the area and go to a new park each week. Do they have sidewalk chalk? Kids like drawing all over the driveway and sidewalk and it just washes away in the rain.
I have used this site to find hikes. The green circle hikes are the easy ones. Logan and Harlie enjoyed going on the hike to Donut Falls. There were no steep hills and it was pleasant, except for the hike back with Logan complaining he didn't get a donut. http://www.utah.com/saltlake/hiking.htm
