Slip of the...slip

Yesterday started off like any other day.

Alarm goes off at 4:24. I stumble over to the dresser, mash the snooze button and crawl back to bed.

Repeat at 4:33.

Repeat at 4:42.

At 4:51, the alarm goes off again. Since I now have 9 minutes to get ready before I have to head out the door, I make a beeline to the bathroom and get ready as quick as possible.

At 5:07, I pull out of the garage and head to work.

Everything continued in the normal routine (minus some mysterious head cold that attacked me half way through the day) until I got home with the kids in the afternoon.

Now, I'm sure this is a sight to behold anyway...picture a mom of three in her work clothes (knee length skirt and nylons of course). She has, count them, 4 bags of varying sizes on her right shoulder and is trying to get a baby carrier, complete with a 21 pound 6-month old baby, out of a Jeep with a lift kit. (Also a copious number of commas at her disposal...) As she is occupied with this, the other two children run across the yard to check for ripe tomatoes.

This poor haggard mother (pity me!) lugs the carrier (HEAVY) and the massive amounts of luggage (AWKWARD) toward the other children, waving at the neighbor driving by while calling to the kids to come in the house. As she turns around to walk in the house with said burdens, she notices a strange restrictive feeling about the middle of her calves and looks down.

Her slip is pooled around her ankles.

And the neighbor was a witness.

No wonder they put their house up for sale.

Aside from The Great Embarrassment, this evening was great. Matt's dad and aunt (probably my favorite of them all) came over with some strawberry pie. The kids about keeled over with excitement (we don't get many visitors at our house) and had to show them every trick in their repertoire and every toy in their collection. We had a nice chat (in between the "flip overs" and zoo of stuffed animals that paraded through the room). They are just plain good people and fun to talk to.

Ah, the juggling act. Such fun. Sounds like your little guy is a match for Jade she's now just over 22 lbs. I miss the days of little Christiana who sat on the 50% for height and weight, but then she had no cute fat rolls. It's always nice to have company to break up the routine, and to have brought pie.....I'm jealous!
